As I reconnected my China manufactured 5V/1A DC PSU, I heard this suspicious rattling sound inside it. Not knowing what it was, I had to open to inspect, suspecting it was a piece of plastic or whatever that had been knocked off sometime. After all, it's hard, cheap plastic, but I had to check.

I didn't expect this.

A blob of solder coming from nowhere. I took out the main board inside it, to see if there were any cold soldering joints that may have popped off, but no. Everything looked intact. This has actually been inside the PSU since it was manufactured; pure luck made it so it didn't short anything out.

I wish I had a camera to take close-up pictures, because you should've seen the work on the SMD parts inside it, I'm telling you, 0603's were "flying" on globs of solder joints, several millimeters above the PCB. Horrible but solid, and does the job, so it's back to work with it :-)
